Our unique integration of researchers, IT professionals and the community is solving today's and tomorrow's problems.
With more than 15 research and support staff and over 10 post-graduate students, the eResearch Centre acts to enable and engage in high quality research.
We support provisioning of computing and information resources for projects, provide access to key tools for research and create tailor-made solutions to solve research problems from all disciplines. We support all application areas, but are particularly passionate about activities relevant to North Queensland, northern Australia and the world's tropical regions.
The ever-increasing ability to access the Internet, prevalence of smart devices and the ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) provide boundless opportunities in research. The eResearch Centre is committed to helping researchers from all disciplines collect, store and make sense of this wealth of data via the web.
We're always working on new and exciting projects, including areas such as:
- Sensor networking and custom hardware
- Cloud computing
- Drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)
- Interactive interfaces
- Large-scale data storage and archival
- ...and so much more.
Our Centre is responsible for refining research practices around data at JCU and assisting researchers to achieve better outcomes from their work.
In collaboration with the University's Library and Information Services, we develop and maintain a data storage repository compliant with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research.
