James Cook University Sessional staff new to teaching or those who are returning after more than 3 years are required to attend induction as part of their ongoing appointment.
The program is presented as a workshop and runs for four hours.
The session aims to introduce you to James Cook University's Strategic Intent; our student population; your role, responsibilities and support network; the higher education regulatory environment and internal guiding policies; learning, teaching and assessment principles; learning technologies and support; and strategies to inform and enhance your professional practice as tertiary educators.
Staff from other / remote locations may participate via a virtual meeting room (VMR). Please review the guidelines for VMR access here and ensure you have all the required equipment before the workshop begins.
Please register via the online registration form to attend this workshop, and if you plan to participate via the virtual meeting room, please add a comment in the "other details" field identifying that you will be attending via VMR and your location. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or other mobile device to these sessions. Materials for all sessions will be provided electronically, or by hard copy on request.
