From Backyard to Baggy Green (and Gold): The Development of Elite Athletes in North Queensland
This presentation will discuss a number of crucial factors that underpin a young athlete’s sporting development. Targeting parents and coaches, this talk will be based upon the personal stories of two elite sportsmen who grew up in Townsville, as well as contemporary scientific literature on talent identification, development, and the importance of sport diversification.

A Practical Response to Resilience in the Tropics
JCU's Cyclone Testing Station combines leading edge research and latest technology to advance our ability to respond to cyclones and severe weather events in the Tropics. This presentation showcases practical learnings and solutions that have been applied to significantly improve disaster resilience for individual dwellings and the communities in which they are located.
