Cairns Heatwave Debrief

Experiences, impacts and future considerations

With Guest Speakers:

Mr Matt Chesnais, Queensland Fire & Emergency Services - Hazard and Risk Unit

Dr Nicole Sleeman, Climate & Health Alliance, Cairns

In November 2018 Cairns experienced its hottest day ever recorded. The mercury climbed to 43 degrees in the CBD. In February 2019 the mercury climbed again and people and animals suffered. Heatwaves are a serious health risk, so how are we going to cope with them?

Come along and share your experience of recent heatwaves while listening to what state experts have to say. Nibbles and networking from 4.30pm for a 5pm start. RSVP - ruth.zee64@gmail.com or show up with your friends and family.

This public education seminar and discussion is brought to you by the Tropical brand of the AAEE and JCU. All are welcome.
