Quick Start Guide to Entrepreneurship

When: 10 September 19, 4pm -- 5pm

Where: At James Cook University
Room 002B, Building 18 - Eddie Koiki Mabo Library, Townsville Campus

Do you know how to take your business idea from conception to start-up? With an increasing number of start-ups and new business ventures, it is very natural for anyone to consider the question.

The term Entrepreneurship is defined by the willingness to take risks, plan, streamline, organise and manage a new business venture in competitive marketplace.

We all have talent and desires to begin something new, however successful entrepreneurship is not only about doing something new; it is about having an idea that helps solve some issues and that has a market, a potential to be sold for income.

Sharing some of our experiences, we will be offering some real-life local advice that will help you answer some very important questions:

  • Do you have a new idea/concept for starting a business?
  • Can you easily create a network of people and build a team that shares your vision?
  • Do you have a trusted mentor? How can you find one?
  • Do you have a clearly defined process for developing, promoting and delivering your product or service? What’s more, have you prepared yourself mentally and practically for anything that could go wrong and how you would deal with it?
  • Do you have sufficient funds to take your idea forward and sustain the plan until the product/service offered starts paying off? What can you do?

Join us for this one hour workshop and networking presented by Adrian Part and Kate Herron from the Townsville Chamber.

This event is open to JCU current students and Alumni.
