Postponed: JCU 50th Celebration Event

When: 20 April 2020, 10:30am -- 11:30am

Where: Building 143, Central Plaza Building

The JCU 50th Celebration Event has been postponed until further notice.

Join your fellow staff, students, and alumni with a slice of birthday cake as we celebrate 50 years of James Cook University.

We will also take the opportunity to officially open JCU’s social and entertainment hub, Central Plaza. The ceiling of the Plaza is an impressive 405m2 with artwork by Indigenous artist Megan Cope as part of her ‘After the Flood’ series. It is a significant artwork and we’re sure the JCU community will enjoy taking time to reflect on the piece as they move through the Central Plaza.

Arranged and aligned along the Magnetic Island Axis, Central Plaza is an open public space that will connect The Science Place, the future Townsville Innovation Complex, and other areas of the campus.

As part of this event we would like to invite alumni, former staff and members of the community to join us on a tour of JCU Townsville. Come along and see how much the campus has changed since your last visit. Tours will commence from the Central Plaza area from 11.30am and should take approximately 2 hours.
