JCU’s Inspiration on Tap will take the sting out of Irukandji and vaccines.

Explore the fascinating world of Irukandji and discover how pharmacists can play a leading role in the COVID-19 health emergency at JCU’s Inspiration on Tap.

Too much of a good sting...The micro-weaponry of the Irukandji jellyfish

Jellyfish are no one-sting wonders. Hear from JCU PhD candidate, Emily O’Hara, about the millions of microscopic stingers of a jellyfish and the deadly venom they can inject into their marine prey — or into human skin. From learning about the stinging nematocysts of the Irukandji to seeing how they work to sting their victims, dive into the wondrous world of the Australian jellyfish.

Pharmacists: Key Players in Improving Vaccination Rates

As Australia anticipates the coming COVID-19 vaccination, pharmacists across the nation have put their hand up to assist their communities in this crucial time. The accessibility of our local community pharmacies makes them the perfect place to deliver the vaccination and they are ready to take on this key role in adapting to the new normal.

Join JCU Adjunct Professor and The Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s Queensland Branch President, Professor Trent Twomey, to learn about the vital and expanding role that community pharmacists play in primary health care.

More information: This is a COVID safe event and registration confirmation is required to be shown on the evening. Reserve your free seat here.
