About this event
Stay in the know with JCU’s Inspiration on Tap. Find out why JCU PhD Candidate Laura Lopresti is examining the role of pollinators with perfect pitch and how JCU PhD Candidate Dom Orih plans to provide better support for students through an Indigenous-developed Family Wellbeing program.
Do buzzing pollinated plants require buzzing pollinators?
JCU PhD Candidate Laura Lopresti will have you buzzing about pollinators with perfect pitch. Did you know that certain bees can vibrate their bodies at a ‘middle C’ pitch to cause a flower to release pollen? Laura is asking whether plants exhibiting this pollination syndrome require vibrating bees specifically, or if there’s a possibility for other insects to also pollinate these specialist plants.
Providing student wellbeing through a soft skills approach
A student’s university journey is influenced by many factors in life, including family wellbeing. JCU PhD Candidate Dom Orih says being equipped to navigate the complexities of life while studying can help students stay on track. Find out how an Indigenous-developed Family Wellbeing program can support students both during university and on their journey ahead.
Nibbles will be provided on the evening.
