JCU Sessional staff new to teaching or those who are returning after more than 3 years are required to attend induction as part of their ongoing appointment.
The program is presented as a workshop and runs for four hours.
The sessions aim to introduce Teaching and Learning at JCU, your role and responsibilities, guiding policies, our student population, current learning and teaching principles, technologies and applications, support available to you, and strategies to inform and enhance your professional practice as tertiary teachers.
There will also be a session in Townsville on 19 July from 1:00PM - 5:00PM at Eddie Koiki Mabo Library Building 018 - Room 002B (iLearning 2) Townsville. Staff from remote locations may participate via virtual meeting rooms (VMR) that have been established at both these times. Please review the guidelines for VMR access here and ensure you have all the required equipment before the workshop begins.
Please register via the online registration form to attend this workshop, and if you plan to participate via the virtual meeting room, please add a comment in the "other details" field identifying that you will be attending via VMR and your location. Please contact Learning, Teaching and Student Engagement if require more information.
Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or other mobile device to these sessions. Materials for all sessions will be provided electronically, or by hard copy on request.
