Year 8 University Experience is designed to demystify university, break down barriers and address any concerns students may have surrounding university life. The Residential program provides students from regional and remote areas the opportunity to participate in our full University Experience program. Students will stay in University residential accommodation and experience what life is like living on campus.

Research shows that Year 10 subject selection is a pivotal time in the decision-making process about future study and career options. Year 10 University Experience has been designed to inspire Year 10 students during this key time, while providing useful information that help them make informed choices about subject selection for years 11 and 12.

At Year 10 University Experience, students will experience university life for themselves, by taking part in information sessions on key study areas, meeting academic staff and current students, and learning more about university life. A residential program is available to students from regional and remote areas.

Year 12 University Experience builds on other JCU events and activities to continue to inspire and guide Year 12 students during their final year of secondary school.

Students will take in discipline-specific sessions delivered by academic staff, and a range of hands-on and interactive activities that provide insight into university life.

The Science and Engineering Challenge is a day-long competition designed to provide high school students with a positive experience of science and engineering.

Each school 'team' is divided into eight groups of between two to four students per group. Each group will then do either one full-day activity, or two half-day activities (i.e. one activity in the morning session, and a different one in the afternoon session).

To celebrate Brain Awareness Week JCU is hosting a Brain Awareness Workshop for secondary school students.

Spend the afternoon with JCU Neuroscientists and learn about the brain. Look at specimens in the anatomy lab and participate in a variety of workshops.
