Orientation and O Week
The JCU Orientation Program runs over a six-week period with activities commencing the week before Orientation Week (O Week) and finishing in Week 4. It is important to attend orientation activities as research shows that JCU students have a 22% increase in success rates if they participate in these transition activities.
This is a chance to get to know other students, lecturers, and support staff, as well as attend information sessions and join in with some fun activities. Orientation information is not repeated in lectures, so don’t miss out on important information about how to succeed at university.
O Week celebrates the beginning of your uni life and is packed with essential information and fun activities. O Week runs from 22 - 26 July 2019, the week before teaching starts in Study Period 2 (SP2).
The Orientation programs will be available for download closer to the date.
Short Courses to Get You Prepared
It is a good idea to be prepared before starting university. There are a range of short courses available to new students to help them get prepared for studying, including Unistart, Maths Refresher, Getting the Most from your Readings, Academic Writing, Basic Statistics and English for Academic Purposes.
