About the University

The University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt is a state university that looks back on over 200 years of history. There are more than 9,000 students and 200 professors at our two sites in Würzburg and Schweinfurt, which are situated approximately 40 kilometres apart. FHWS offers practical, future-oriented study options with more than 40 degree programmes within ten different facilities and six research institutes. We guarantee degree qualifications that are recognised the world over.

At FHWS, teaching takes place in small study groups with an excellent student-teacher ratio. While frequent seminar papers teach students to work independently, project work helps to develop students’ team skills. Professors affording sound professional experience gained in industry and business impart applied scientific knowledge with a particularly practical emphasis. Teaching take place in modern lecture rooms and laboratories featuring innovative technology and state-of-the-art equipment.

Würzburg and Schweinfurt, Germany

Würzburg is a city in Germany's Bavaria region. It's known for lavish baroque and rococo architecture, particularly the 18th-century Residenz palace, with ornate rooms, a huge fresco by Venetian artist Tiepolo and an elaborate staircase. Home to numerous wine bars, cellars and wineries, Würzburg is the center of the Franconian wine country, with its distinctive bocksbeutel (bottles with flattened round shapes).

Schweinfurt is a city in the Lower Franconia region of Bavaria in Germany on the right bank of the navigable Main River, which is spanned by several bridges here, 27 km northeast of Würzburg. More about studying in Germany.

Please note that FHWS, like all German universities, cannot offer accommodation for its students. Being accepted as a student at FHWS does not mean that you automatically have accommodation. It is very difficult to find accommodation in Würzburg and in Schweinfurt. Therefore, we recommend you to apply for accommodation as early as possible in your home country. Make sure to look for several alternatives, too. Do not rely on just one accommodation offer. Note: In Germany, only a contract in writing is legally binding.

The student residence is an institution independent from FHWS that offers student accommodation. General information about the student residences in Würzburg und Schweinfurt.
