The exchange program offered by the Universidad Espiritu Santo (UEES) provides a full academic component that includes Spanish language instruction, university courses delivered in both English and Spanish, and a large number of service learning opportunities. UEES since its inception has enjoyed strong international relations with some of the best universities from around the globe. Each year we receive international students from partner institutions in Australia, Canada, the USA, France, Italy, Belgium, Japan, Mexico, Korea and many more.
Ecuador has it all: from snow-capped volcanoes to long sandy beaches; from bustling cities to rural communities; from indigenous tradition to modern convenience; from incredible natural riches to extreme poverty and inequality; from the Amazon Rainforest to the Galápagos Islands; you name it, this country has it. What's more, all of this is crammed into a tiny, accessible space.
Guayaquil is a port city in Ecuador, known as a gateway to Pacific beaches and the Galapagos Islands. Stretching along the Guayas River is the waterfront Simón Bolívar promenade, home to La Rotonda monument. In the north, Las Peñas is a neighborhood full of colorful houses. Stairs lined with cafes and art galleries lead up Santa Ana Hill, site of Santa Ana chapel, a lighthouse and views of the city.

At CEI our goals are to provide students with a deeper and more genuine linguistic, academic and intercultural experience than the average study abroad program while in a secure, comfortable setting. Nothing helps achieve these goals quite like the homestay program. All of our families are vetted, regularly supervised, and live in the area close to the university campus.
Our university housing offers a limited number of spaces to both international and local students (female only) next to our campus in Samborondon. Some single occupancy rooms are available, but most rooms are shared. All houses are full furnished and come equipped with cooking and laundry facilities.
Cost of living varies depending on personal needs, the estimated cost of living for one month including home-stay accommodation with meals and laundry USD 650, orientation tour USD 500, transport, textbooks and supplies and spending USD 200/month.
Please consult your nearest Ecuadorian Consulate for current requirements. UEES will provide all necessary supporting documentation.
