About the University
The University of Agder was officially established in 2007, but has a history dating back to 1839. It has campuses in Kristiansand (also called Gimlemoen) in Vest-Agder, and Grimstad in Aust-Agder. Student enrolment is around 10,000.
Location
Kristiansand, NorwayKristiansand is the fifth largest city in Norway with a population of around 85,000. Kristiansand is a city in southern Norway. Its old town, Posebyen, features traditional wooden houses. In the center, neo-Gothic Kristiansand Cathedral is near the Sørlandets Museum, which displays Norwegian art from 1800 to today. The southeastern shoreline includes the Bystranda city beach, the 17th century Christiansholm Fortress rotunda and Fiskebrygga quay, lined with fishmongers selling their catch.

Accommodation
Student accommodation in Kristiansand and Grimstad is offered by The Student Association of Agder (SiA). International students at the University of Agder are guaranteed student accommodation in shared or single rooms. Together with your letter of acceptance, you will receive a reservation code and details on how to apply for your accommodation. Please do not apply for accommodation before receiving this information.
Cost of living
Cost of living varies depending on personal needs, the estimated cost of living for one month including accommodation, food, health insurance, transport, textbooks and supplies is estimated at NOK 9,500.
Visa requirements
Australians who wish to study in Norway for longer than three months must apply for a visa/residence permit. For the visa or a residence permit you need the admission letter from the University of Agder. You must start the application process for a visa or a residence permit as soon as you have received the admission letter. See Norwegian Directorate of Immigration.
