Summary of Project

The project involves the following:

  • obtain experimental results of da/dN-DK for 3 stress ratios: R=0.05; R»0.3; R»0.7.
  • obtain experimental results of da/dN-DK with overloads and load blocks. (we can define latter the load blocks).
  • predict numerically da/dN-DK using the cumulative plastic strain as crack driving force.
  • compare the numerical predictions with experimental results in order to understand the mechanisms behind crack growth.
