The Academic and Thesis Writing Workshops (ATWW) series provides practical and conceptual information on how academic writing works, and encourages you to put the techniques to use in your thesis, proposals and journal articles. Whatever your current stage of writing, there are benefits for anyone who wishes to attend.
ATWW will run for six consecutive weeks in each series and will be video-linked between the Townsville, Cairns and Singapore campuses. At least one session will be conducted in Cairns and video-linked to the other locations. Each session is recorded. All notes, recordings and other relevant material will be uploaded to eGRS shortly after each session.
The ATWW series is open to all JCU postgraduate and Honours students. Members of staff are warmly invited to attend as well.
You should register through CareerHub to attend: Registration assists the Convenor to ensure that suitable rooms are available, and to contact participants if there is a change of venue or time. Contact the GRS (firstname.lastname@example.org) for assistance with self-managed registrations using CareerHub.
Important Note for International Students: This six-week Academic & Thesis Writing Workshop series is separate to the SKIP Program (Skills for International Postgraduates). International research-only students in their first year of enrolment should register to undertake the SKIP Program and are not required to attend the Academic and Thesis Writing Workshop series. However, international students in their later years who have completed the SKIP Program are most welcome to attend the Academic and Thesis Writing Workshops.
