MEETING ONE (3 September 2012)
Following the Vice Chancellor’s notification of bargaining and receipt of the NTEU Log of Claims lodged with the University on 16 August 2012, the first meeting of the Enterprise Bargaining Committee was held on Monday 3 September 2012 in Cairns.
The meeting was attended by your JCU bargaining representatives, Dr Stephen Weller, Professor Ross Spark and Ms Colette Wasson, and the NTEU bargaining representatives Dr Jan Wegner, Mr Laurie Reilly and Mr Michael McNally. Apologies were received from the Together Union (amalgamation of the QPSU and the ASU (Clerical) Central and Southern Queensland Branch) and United Voice.
The topics of discussion were the NTEU Log of Claims, the proposed protocols for bargaining and the timeline for negotiations.
Your JCU bargaining representatives proposed a timeline of weekly meetings (each Monday) of 5 hours per session for the first month and then fortnightly (every 2nd Monday) for 5 hours per session with an option of varying this as required. It was agreed to alternate chairs for the meetings between your JCU representatives and the Union representatives. Both parties confirmed their desire to conclude negotiations in a reasonable length of time.
The University is committed to keeping you regularly informed on the progress of the negotiations. A copy of the NTEU log of claims can be accessed at the University’s Enterprise Agreement Website.
