Enterprise Bargaining

Dear Colleagues,

Following my email of last Thursday, I am happy to confirm that the Enterprise Agreement has been agreed in principle at the local NTEU level.

Since sending out that email I have received a lot of positive feedback from staff who are happy that the terms of the Enterprise Agreement have been finalised.

While I can appreciate the relief that the Enterprise Agreement negotiations have come to an end, there is still an important step that needs to occur: you must be given the opportunity to vote on the Enterprise Agreement. Before the Enterprise Agreement can be provided to Fair Work Commission for approval the Enterprise Agreement must be approved by a valid majority (50% +1) of those who vote.

As it is currently school holidays many of you may be on leave, so in order to ensure all staff have the opportunity to participate in consultation sessions and consider the proposed Enterprise Agreement, JCU will commence the mandatory consultation period on Tuesday 8 October 2013.

On Tuesday, we will provide you with the proposed Enterprise Agreement and information to help you understand the terms and conditions contained in it.

There will also be information available online and we will shortly provide to you the schedule of the consultation sessions that will occur.
