IERC Summer Pre-program

Summer Pre-program

The JCU Summer Pre-program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students is an initiative of the Indigenous Education and Research Centre (IERC), in partnership with the JCU academic Colleges.

Summer Pre-program conducts pre-programs for prospective Indigenous students who have completed Year 12 QCE or HSC requirements in 2019 and are seeking to gain entry into JCU.

The Summer Pre-programs are intensive preparation programs related to a student's preferred course of study. By participating in this program students will be better prepared to undertake their desired course next year. This year we will be showcasing study areas in the following disciplines:

  • Health and Medical Sciences
  • Law
  • Nursing and Midwifery
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

Over two weeks, students live on campus and take part in academic lectures and team-building activities in an interactive program that provides opportunities to connect with University staff and students as well as form lasting bonds with other students in the program.

On-campus accommodation allows for a complete university experience. Students are housed in the residential colleges on campus and catering is provided for all participants while on campus. JCU covers the cost of return travel, including flights, bus or train for students outside of the Townsville region.

The 2019 Summer Pre-program runs from Sunday 1 December to Friday 13 December inclusive.
