Printing from OSX

Once connected to the JCU Wireless network (see Wireless Guide), follow the instructions below to connect your OSX device to the student print queues.

  1. Go to System Preferences and select Print & Scan.
    Note: System Preferences can be found under the apple icon in the top left hand corner of your screen.

  2. Select the + (plus) icon inside the Printers Window.

  3. On the Add window, select Advanced.

    If the Advanced Cog is not displayed, you can add it by right clicking the bar (or CTRL + click), selecting Customise Toolbar, and dragging the advanced cog on to the Toolbar.

  4. Set the Type to Windows Printer via spoolss.

  5. Enter the Name, URL:,  Location and Use fields (from the table below) in to the Add window to connect to the desired print queue for your campus.

  7. Make sure that Duplex Printing Unit is ticked.

  8. You have now installed a student printer and can now send your print jobs to the JCU student print queues, while on-campus.

  9. The first time you attempt to send a print job to the Student Print queue you will be prompted for your network credentials.

    • Select Connect as: Registered User
    • Username: ad\JCUUsername (eg ad\jcxxxxxx)
    • Password: Your JCU password
    • Click OK

    Tick the box Remember this password in my keychain to store the credentials on your computer so you don't have to enter them every time you print.
