International Student Study Options for 2021

The COVID-19 global pandemic and international travel restrictions have resulted in changes to teaching and learning at JCU in order to keep everyone safe and adhere to Australian Government guidelines.

We have made adjustments to our course offerings to enable students in some courses to study online. Some courses require students attend practical or compulsory on-campus requirements. Please check the information below to review the available study options for your course and inform us if you wish to change your study plans.

Current students should regularly check LearnJCU for details specifically related to their course and subjects.

Study Options for New Students 

  • If you have been issued an offer but would like to delay the start of your course until 2022, you can apply for a 6-12 month deferment period. Contact your agent, or, if you applied directly to JCU, contact JCU International Admissions.
  • If you have been issued an offer, but would like to change to online study, contact your agent, or, if you applied directly to JCU, contact JCU International Admissions.

The following courses are offered online and can be studied externally by international students.

Course

Study Options

Bachelor of Arts (Criminology, English, Modern Languages, Politics and International Relations, Sociology majors)

  • Commence online in July 2021, or
  • Apply to defer until February 2022

Bachelor of Arts (Anthropology, Archaeology, Design and Creative Arts, History, Human Geography, Human Services, Indigenous Studies, Multimedia Journalism and Writing, Psychology Studies majors)

These majors are not available to commence online.

You can:

  • Apply to receive a new offer for a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Criminology, English, Modern Language, Politics and International Relations or Sociology and commence online in July 2021, or
  • Apply to defer until February 2022

Bachelor of Business

  • Commence online in September 2021, or
  • Apply to defer until February 2022

Bachelor of Business – Bachelor of Laws

  • Commence online in July 2021, or
  • Apply to defer until February 2022

Bachelor of Laws

  • Commence online in July 2021, or
  • Apply to defer until February 2022

Master of Global Development

  • Commence online in July 2021, or
  • Apply to defer until February 2022
Master of Data Science (Professional)
  • Commence online in August 2021, or
  • Apply to defer until March 2022
Graduate Certificate of Information Technology
  • Commence online in July 2021, or
  • Apply to defer until February 2022


The following courses are not available for online commencement. You can apply to defer your place until February 2022.
