Why did you choose to study at JCU Townsville?
JCU has been ranked among the top universities in the world and its courses are career-focused and are designed in keeping employers’ expectations in mind.
I pursued my Master of Engineering (Professional), specialising in Technology and Management, because of the coursework subjects that provided exposure to many technical and management topics. The courses offered by JCU focus on how industries work and subjects in areas including risk engineering, advanced asset management, and data science make the coursework more practical.
Following my master’s journey, I desired to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy in the field of Engineering Asset Management at JCU because of its world-class rankings and role as a leading research university.
What has been the highlight of your time at JCU?
Every day of my master’s journey was full of excitement. But the best moment I would like to highlight is the path that led me toward my undertaking my PhD. I got placed at Rockfield Technologies Australia as an Intern for my academic project. After this experience, I got hired on a contract by the same organisation and now finally, I am doing my PhD associated with the same organisation. All of this was possible because of the insightful direction of my faculty members at JCU. I felt the pathway was well designed by JCU and the only thing I had to do was to believe in myself to take this path.
What are your career aspirations?
I desire to keep on contributing to the field of science and engineering with the best solution to modern-day problems with the help of technology and innovation. I have found my interest in the field of research and would like to continue to explore this.
What is your advice for prospective international students?
Trust the process. Things may look challenging now, but have a plan in place and more importantly, trust that plan to make things better. I believe that in the end, everyone deserves to be successful. We just need to define success for ourselves and keep working towards achieving it.
