Academic entry requirements
Undergraduate
You must have successfully completed 6 months of full-time study at a recognised higher education institution and received a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.9 out of 7.0, or minimum average results of approximately 65-70%.
You may be eligible to apply directly after high school and must provide your High School Certificate (or equivalent). These applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Postgraduate
You must have successfully completed a bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised higher education institution. Refer to our Study Abroad Guide for additional entry requirements if applicable.
Postgraduate students applying for the Study Abroad Program can study a maximum of one teaching period only.
Academic entry requirements vary by country. If your country is not listed below, please refer to our Study Abroad Guide or email internationaladmissions@jcu.edu.au.
Undergraduate: Successful completion of one semester (six months) of study at a recognised higher education institution in Denmark with an overall grade of Pass (average of D or better) or successful completion of Studentereksamen, Højere forberedelseseksamen or Højere handelseksamen or Hojere Tekniskeksamen
English proficiency: Not applicable in most cases, providing students have studied through the Danish education system.
Undergraduate: Successful completion of six months of study at a recognised German university with an overall grade of Pass or successful completion of Abitur, Fachhochschulreife or Reifezeugnis.
English proficiency: Academic IELTS, TOEFL or Pearson; or Abitur/Allgemeine Hochschulreife or Zeugnis der Fachhochsculreife with 2 (gut) or better in English as a Basic course; or Abitur/Allgemeine Hochschulreife or Zeugnis der Fachhochsculreife with 3 (befriedigend) or better in English as a Intensified course (“Leistungskurs”); or DAAD English language test – Minimum of four stars (****) in each section of the test i.e. Oral interaction, Reading and Writing. IELTS, TOEFL and DAAD test results must not be older than two years from start of course.
Undergraduate: Successful completion of at least six months of study at a recognised higher education institution in Norway; or successful completion of Norwegian Vitnemål fra den Videregående Skolen with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
English proficiency: Academic IELTS, TOEFL or Pearson; or grade of 4 or better in any English subject in the Vitnemål fra den Videregående Skolen. IELTS and TOEFL test results must not be older than two years from start of course.
Undergraduate: Successful completion of Upper Secondary School (Slutbetyg) or Kommunal vuxenutbildning (Komvux) with a minimum GPA of 12.
English proficiency: Academic IELTS, TOEFL or Pearson; or grade of VG or above in the Slutbetyg or Komvux. IELTS and TOEFL test results must not be older than two years from start of course.
Undergraduate: Satisfactory completion (a pass) of one year at a recognised university or other post-secondary institution at the date you apply with a minimum GPA of 2.8, however, students with a GPA between 2.5 and 2.7 will be considered for the study abroad program.
Students from freshman year will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Students who have successfully completed their High School Diploma or equivalent with SAT score of 1000; or an ACT score of 22 will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
English proficiency: Not applicable in most cases.
English language entry requirements
Students whose native language is not English must generally demonstrate their proficiency by achieving a score in a test such as Academic IELTS, TOEFL or Pearson (PTE Academic). Other English language tests may be accepted as proof of English language proficiency.
The table demonstrates the minimum English language proficiency requirement for the Study Abroad Program.
If you meet the academic requirements but not the English language requirement, you can receive a packaged offer to study English prior to your main study at JCU.
