All newly commenced Australia Awards Scholarship (AAS)students are required to complete a four week Introductory Academic Program (IAP) prior to commencing their nominated award course. The IAP is aimed at helping students and their families settle into James Cook University (JCU) and the general community as well as introduce students to the Australian culture and language.
The IAP will help students with the educational and cultural expectations involved in studying at JCU, through intensive academic and cultural adjustment skills training. While the program is attended by all new AAS sponsored students undertaking different courses at various levels, the sessions are tailored to maximise the learning experience of each individual. Some IAP sessions are broken up into small groups to cater for undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and postgraduate research students.
