Our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program is designed to improve your academic English and study skills so you can enrol in a JCU undergraduate or postgraduate program.
This program is available to students who meet JCU’s academic entry requirements, but not the English language entry requirement. On completion of the EAP, enter directly in your JCU degree.
- Enjoy a supportive environment with small classes and world-class lecturers
- Improve your English so that you are able to enter the JCU course of your choice
- Feel more independent and improve your ability to study and learn.
Please note: The English for Academic Purposes program is not being offered in 2021.
EAP structure
The length of English for Academic Purposes study will depend on the student’s English language proficiency at the time of the application (as determined by IELTS score or equivalent) and the English language requirements for their chosen course.
EAP can be studied at four different levels. Your entry level is determined by your current level of English and your chosen university course. EAP is taught in intensive courses, with 20 contact hours per week (full-time) for 10 weeks at each level.
