Preparing for a New Collaboration or Partnership

Before you undertake a new research project, you will need to work systematically through the matters that you need to consider as you are developing your approach to a new project or partnership. These guides comprise both external and internal considerations as you seek to get your new project off the ground.

Internal Considerations

Before you commence a detailed evaluation of the proposed partnership or collaboration, take some time to consider some preliminary questions about project alignment and your capacity to deliver it. We encourage you to work through these questions and record your notes on the Internal Considerations document provided.

External Considerations

This checklist will assist you to work through the range of potential issues that typically arise in developing a project with a potential partner. We encourage you to work through these questions and record your notes in the External Considerations document provided. Should the project be successful, contract documentation will need to reflect the choices that you have made.

Once you are prepared for a collaboration or partnership, the next step is Conducting Due Diligence.
