History of the prize

This prize was founded in 1973 by the Townsville & District University Society with a donation of uncommitted funds after the Society's dissolution. The prize is awarded to the student who, in the opinion of the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Division, has been the most outstanding level 1 student in the Division that year. This prize is rotated between divisions.
