Key responsibilities

As the Manager of Student Success, Jill is responsible for:

  1. Leading JCU’s whole-of-institution approach to student retention
  2. Developing a robust evaluation processes
  3. Identifying high impact retention strategies for our diverse student cohorts
  4. Facilitating professional development for Student Support Officers enabling them to best connect students with appropriate support services

Jill will  work closely with the Associate Deans of Learning and Teaching and a range of stakeholders across all University Divisions and the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Centre.

Key areas of interest

  • Promoting a whole of institution approach to student retention
  • Leading evaluation about the existing student retention programs
  • Supporting the use of data in strategic decision making.

Other information

Prior to commencing work at James Cook University, Jill spent the last six years in Manager and Senior Business Analyst roles, within the Compliance and Monitoring Unit, of the Apunipima Cape York Health Council, in Cairns. Jill brings with her a broad range of knowledge and experience in teaching, business analysis, business intelligence, information systems, the health sector and contract management.  

Amongst other qualifications, Jill has a Master of Business (IT) and Bachelor of Education, and is currently completing a Masters of Evaluation through the University of Melbourne – the only program of its kind in Australia.
