The groups tool can be used to to create groups of students within a Subject or Community. These groups have their own areas in LearnJCU to facilitate collaboration on subject work and are equipped with tools to assist in the collaborative process. 

Some features of Groups

  • Lecturers can create many identical groups at once using Group Sets

  • Students can be randomly assigned to groups, manually assigned by the lecturer, or Groups can be set to ‘self enrol’ to allow students to sign up to a preferred group

  • Students can personalise their group space to suit their own preferences

  • Assessment data can be easily managed for groups by creating Smart Views for each group in the Grade Centre

  • Group Assignments can be set that allows lecturers to assign a single grade to all of the students in a group and also to override that group grade and assign a student a different grade
