Staff roles in LearnJCU

Subject Coordinator

  • Will automatically have access to LearnJCU if they are correctly listed in the Teaching Roles Database (TRDB) for each subject

  • Added to the TRDB by the School’s TRDB Administrator. Approved by the School’s TRDB Approval Delegate.

  • Has access to the Control Panel and can access, modify or delete any content or student data

  • Has access to YourJCU data for the subject and their own teaching evaluations

Lecturer

  • Will automatically have access to LearnJCU if they are correctly listed in the TRDB for each subject

  • Added to the TRDB by the School’s TRDB Administrator. Approved by the School’s TRDB Approval Delegate

  • Has access to the Control Panel and can access, modify or delete any content or student data

  • Has access to YourJCU data for the subject and their own teaching evaluations

  • Subjects will be listed on the Lecturer’s Research Portfolio webpage profile.

Tutor

  • Will automatically have access to LearnJCU if they are correctly listed in the TRDB for each subject

  • Added to the TRDB by the Subject Coordinator, Lecturer or the School’s TRDB Administrator.

  • Has access to the Control Panel and can access, modify or delete any content or student data

  • Will have access to YourJCU data for the subject and their own teaching evaluations (from 2015)

Read-only staff

  • Will automatically have access to LearnJCU if they are correctly listed in the TRDB for each subject

  • Added to the TRDB by the Subject Coordinator, Lecturer or the School’s TRDB Administrator.

  • Suitable for guest lecturer or adjunct access

  • Has no access to the Control Panel (including the Grade Centre) and cannot modify or delete any content or student data

  • Has no access to YourJCU subject or teaching evaluation

Site Editor

  • Added in the ‘LearnJCU Site Editor’ Organisational role by the College’s Role Administrator.

  • Has ‘opt in’ access via the TRDB to multiple subject sites for a particular organisational unit (Division or College)

  • Has access to the Control Panel and can access, modify or delete any content or student data

  • Has no access to YourJCU subject or teaching evaluations

Site Viewer

  • Added in the ‘LearnJCU Site Viewer Organisational role by the College’s Role Administrator.

  • Has ‘opt in’ access via the TRDB to multiple subject sites for a particular organisational unit (Division or College)

  • Has no access to the Control Panel (including the Grade Centre) and cannot modify or delete any content or student data

  • Has no access to YourJCU subject or teaching evaluations

Troubleshooting staff access to LearnJCU subject sites

Q. I am a subject coordinator or lecturer but my LearnJCU site is not listed.
A. Ask the school’s TRDB Administrator to check you are listed in the TRDB for that subject in the correct role and to add you if necessary.

Q. I am a tutor but my LearnJCU site is not listed.
A. Ask the school’s TRDB Administrator to check you are listed in the TRDB for that subject in the correct role and to add you if necessary.

Q. I have a temporary ‘non-jcu’ username and an official ‘jc’ username. Which one do I use?
A. Always use your official JCU username. If you find your subjects are not listed under this username, use the troubleshooting steps above.
