LearnJCU Browser Compatibility Matrix
Blackboard™ Learn Release 9.1.201404 is tested with a variety of technologies.
Fully tested and supported.
Compatible, but not fully supported
Testing and support are pending
Internet Explorer 8
Internet Explorer 9
Internet Explorer 10
Internet Explorer 11
Windows Vista*, Windows 7* and Windows 8* - LearnJCU may not be certified for use on certain 64-bit operating systems. Users of 64-bit operating systems may not get a "Pass" on the browser check. In these cases a "Warning" is acceptable. LearnJCU may be considered compatible with 64-bit operating systems, but not fully supported. You are encouraged to use one of the browsers and versions that is labelled "Fully Tested and Supported."
RC** - The Firefox Release Channel (RC) is the fully tested version by Mozilla and intended to be the most stable. This channel is updated approximately every 6 weeks. The latest stable version of Firefox can be downloaded at www.firefox.com.
SC** - The Chrome Stable Channel (SC) is the fully tested version by Google and intended to be the most stable. This channel is updated approximately every 2-3 weeks for minor releases and 6 weeks for major releases. The latest stable version of Chrome can be downloaded at www.google.com/chrome.
Smartphone and Tablet Support - Web browsers on these devices are not supported by Blackboard. You may be able to use unsupported technology successfully, but we will be unable to help you if issues arise when using unsupported technology. We strongly recommend you download the Blackboard Mobile Learn app if you intend to access LearnJCU on a mobile device. The Blackboard Collaborate Mobile app is certified for iOS 4.3 and above Apple iPad 2 or later.
Java – The Java runtime Environment (JRE) is required to run tools such as Blackboard Collaborate. JRE 7 is the supported version and can be downloaded here.
Note for Mac OS X: On Apple Mac OS X, Google's Chrome browser does not support Java 7 because of incompatibilities between 64-bit Java and 32-bit Chrome. Firefox and Safari browsers do not have this limitation on Mac OS X. Users of the Chrome browser on Mac OS X must configure Java 6 support in order to access some features. As of OSX 10.8 Java is no longer shipped as part of the OS and must be downloaded and installed by users when requested by application/applet - a one time action on the part of the user.
Flash – The Record from Webcam feature in the Content Editor requires the Flash Player browser plugin from Adobe to successfully save the recordings to YouTube. Adobe Flash Player version 11 is the recommended version of the Adobe Flash Player plugin. Flash can be downloaded here.
