LTSE Policies & Frameworks

Policies, Frameworks & Resources

This page provides information and links to policy documents, resources and frameworks that support learning, teaching and assessment at JCU.

There are six distinct principles that form The JCU Model which underpin JCU's learning, teaching, research, and engagement framework. These principles are:

  • Focused on the tropics
  • Research rich
  • Student focused
  • Connected to community
  • Internationally engaged
  • Culturally informed

The 2022 documents have a new look so it is essential for all Subject Coordinators to transfer to the new template rather than amend existing outlines. Colleges and Disciplines may choose to provide additional information to students, or make minor alterations to the format, however the core information provided in the template will be mandatory for all subjects.

Inherent requirements are the identified abilities, attributes, skills and behaviours that must be demonstrated, at specific stages of learning, to successfully complete a course. These abilities, attributes, skills and behaviours preserve the academic integrity of the University’s learning, assessment, and accreditation processes, and where applicable meet the standards of a profession.

Examples of inherent requirements are:

  • the ability to perform tasks or functions which are a necessary part of a course of learning, and
  • the ability to undertake the activities of the course safely.
