Our commitment:

We work with researchers, Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates and stakeholders to ensure research data is managed effectively and in compliance with the Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and other guidelines, funder policies and JCU’s RDIM requirements.

Our Infrastructure and Services Include:

Research Data Management (RDM) Platform:

We support your use of Research Data JCU to:

  • create and maintain research data management plans (RDMPs)
  • identify data for archiving, establish non-public Data Records and store data appropriately
  • create Data Publications with:
    • accurate data descriptions
    • controlled access to datasets
    • licences to facilitate reuse
    • DOIs and embargoes (anonymous peer review of data available on request) to support manuscript submission.

Data Curation and Publication:

  • ensure data curation, publication and harvesting services align with FAIR data, CARE and open research principles
  • maximise the visibility of JCU researchers’ data outputs.

System and Technical Support:

  • troubleshoot system issues with Research Data JCU and escalate when necessary
  • provide technical assistance, often in collaboration with eResearch Analysts, for the following activities:
    • active (working) data management and storage
    • large data transfers (archiving)
    • data recall from storage to fulfil data access requests.

Guidance and Training:

Address inquiries and offer guidance and training through:

  • email/ServiceNow
  • Knowledge Base articles (coming soon)
  • project-specific support and consultations
  • College/Centre, discipline, small group or laboratory based training upon (reasonable) request
  • HDR cohort workshops
  • online training (updated modules coming soon)

Collaboration and Engagement:

Collaborate with stakeholders and subject experts at JCU and in the broader research data management community to continuously improve our processes and services.
