Collection – location guidelines

Items in the Main collections in the Mabo Library, Townsville, and the Cairns Library move between the two campuses according to client need. Clients on either campus may request items from the other location for loan via the Library catalogue. The library then transports the items to the requested location. Once the item has been borrowed and returned by the client it will remain in the Library at that location until such time as it is requested by a client on the other campus.

Exceptions to the ‘floating’ collection are Short Term (2 day) loans and audiovisual items. These may be requested from the other campus but always return to the ‘home’ campus library after use.

Collections listed below are not part of the ‘floating’ collection:

• Reference

• Periodicals

• Theses

• Special collections

• Multi-media equipment
