Library Find Readings and Past Exams Reserve Online Criteria for Scanning

All items for processing into Reserve Online must meet the following criteria. Items not meeting these requirements will be returned to the requestor with comments on what is required. Please note that if the Library already has the item available in electronic format, e.g. e-book or ejournal you need only to complete the online request form and the item will be linked electronically where available.

Criteria

  • An electronic Reserve Online request form must be completed for each file

  • All items must be submitted as individual files

  • Files for text based works or images (for items submitted by CD or file name is included on Reserve Online form)

  • PDF files should be compacted using the pdf optimiser in Adobe Acrobat Professional or other compatible software - the preferred file size is less than 2MB

  • Clear, readable A4 copies – can be single or double sided

  • All book chapters must include the book title, verso (publishing details) pages

  • All journal articles must include the journal title and publishing details

  • Photocopies of Articles or Chapters (only for books, journals not held by library) as per below

    • This can be submitted electronically or as a paper copy with the request

    • Must be clear, readable A4 copies – can be single or double sided

    • All book chapters must include in addition to the chapter title and author(s), the book title, verso (publishing details) pages and table of contents

    • All journal articles must include in addition to the article title and the author(s), the journal title and publishing details.

Moving Images, Off Air Broadcasts and Music

  • An electronic Reserve Online request form must be completed for each file

  • All video files must be submitted in digital form, either:

  • Uploaded as internet ready files in any video format (eg. mp4, wmv, mov, avi, flv), or

  • Provided on DVD, CD, or USB flash drive

  • All audio files must be submitted in digital form, either:

    • Uploaded as internet ready files in any audio format (eg. wav, mp3, wma, aac, flac)
    • Provided on CD , DVD, or USB flash drive
  • If DVD or CD chapters/tracks are to be made available separately from the whole work, then a request form must be submitted for each chapter/track

  • It is the requestors responsibility to ensure copyright compliance if applicable, by either:

  • Editing the video or audio file to remove third party copyright materialUploading permission from the author as an electronic document (eg. PDF)
