Master of Busines s Administration-Master of Professional Accounting
When Greg Leslie decided to enrol in an MBA and MPA he was looking to expand his business and move into a managerial role rather than an operational one.
After 19 years working as an auto electrician Greg wanted to diversify into other areas of business. While he had developed many hands-on skills he felt he needed more experience in marketing, HR and the academic side of running a commercial operation.
Studying part-time, block mode and a mixture of flexible arrangements Greg found the quality of teaching and facilities at JCU was very good and his fellow students provided some excellent support. “I made some really long-term friends and professional associates during my MBA studies, several of whom I do business with today.”
Now Greg is the Managing Director of his own auto electrical business in Townsville, which employs 20 staff, as well as managing three Battery World businesses based in Townsville and Brisbane. “Studying an MBA made it possible for me to have a more flexible life as I can run my businesses without having to physically be there. Plus I am far more aware of issues relating to retention of staff and strategies for growth and development.”
Greg gained a real sense of achievement in completing his MBA and that combined with the knowledge he developed means he now has the theory behind the skills to run his organisations.
