20 years, 20 stories in the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine

A 20-year anniversary is a good excuse for a celebration.

The Division of Tropical Health and Medicine (DTHM) hosted a showcase in December of 20 stories about 20 of its people to say ‘thank you’ to staff for 20 years of achievements, challenges, memories and hard work.

The staff who kindly volunteered (or were ‘volunteered’ by others) to take part in the project represented many of the Division’s discipline areas, locations and job descriptions. Long-serving staff members were featured alongside newcomers to JCU at functions on the Townsville and Cairns campuses. The event was video-conferenced to Mackay, Thursday Island, Singapore, Atherton and Mount Isa.

The celebration followed the Division’s end-of-year staff forum. At the forum the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Ian Wronski, and Directors, Pam Stronach and Geoff Gorton, provide an update on the year’s highlights, happenings, figures and future.

The 20 stories will be displayed outside the Townsville DTHM Office in coming weeks on the second floor of Building 39. Keep an eye out for the stories on social media and in the College newsletters.
