Step 5 – Welcome and Orientation Sessions
You need to register at the Student Centre and remember to notify home that you have arrived at JCU.
The International Student Orientation is compulsory for international students as you receive important information for your enrolment and settling into life in Australia and preparing for studies at JCU.
Welcome and Orientation events and activities will help you:
- Understand what is expected of you as a university student
- Boost your confidence and motivation
- Settle into the University community
- Finalise your enrolment before classes start
Attend O Week – make sure you attend your course introduction on Monday or Tuesday and take advantage of other activities on offer, such as campus tours, workshops, timetable assistance, social events and much more.
You will be able to obtain your Student ID card then (bring photo ID eg. drivers licence or passport and your eight digit Student ID number on your eCOE). If you are not able to attend O Week, go to the Student Centre for help.
Once you have completed these 5 essential steps you are ready to start your studies.
You will find other useful information on the New Students site.
Once you have started your studies, use the Current Students site for all information on managing your studies, support services and more.
