Campus closed Friday

James Cook University’s Townsville campus will be closed Friday 31 January.

James Cook University’s Townsville campus will be closed Friday 31 January.

The closure is due to Cyclone Dylan, which is expected to cross the coast in the vicinity of Townsville early on Friday morning.

Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Chris Cocklin said the decision was based on concern for safety of students and staff, with the possibility of flooding and traffic disruption in the Townsville area.

“We expect the campus to re-open on Saturday 1 February and to be open for business as usual on Monday 3 February,” Professor Cocklin said.

Urgent student enquiries on Friday can be directed to the Cairns Student Centre at 07 4232 1000 or (within Australia) freecall 1800 246 446, and email enquiries@jcu.edu.au.
