The Cairns campus is surrounded on three sides by rainforest-covered mountains, and is dissected by small fresh water creeks. Located near the northern beaches in the suburb of Smithfield, the campus is 15 kilometres north of the Cairns CBD. Around 3,500 students study at JCU Cairns, including 380 international students. Our brand new on-campus student housing opened at the beginning of 2018, offering housing for approximately 300 students.
The Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Bachelor of Information Technology (Internet of Things) are courses specific only to JCU Cairns. Note, there are a number of courses that are not offered in Cairns, including Medicine and Surgery, Veterinary Science and a range of health sciences, so it's important to check the guide prior to choosing your Open Day location.
