The Townsville campus is located in the suburb of Douglas and is situated on 386-hectares of natural bush and parkland. Around 9,000 students are enrolled at Townsville, with approximately 1,400 students living on campus in colleges and residential halls, giving the campus a true community atmosphere. Students can also access study facilities at the newly established City Campus on Flinders Street in the Townsville CBD.
Most courses offered by JCU can be studied at our Townsville campus; the only courses not offered are Dentistry and the Internet of Things. There are a range of courses only offered in Townsville, including Biomedical Sciences, Marine Science, Medicine and Surgery, Medical Laboratory Science, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Speech Pathology and Veterinary Science. It is important to check the guide prior to choosing your Open Day location.
Townsville is Australia’s largest tropical city with a population of around 190,000. It’s a thriving coastal city, and a gateway to the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef, Wet Tropics rainforests, and military and outback experiences. The resort regions of the Whitsunday Islands and Mission Beach are within easy reach, as are historic outback towns, such as Charters Towers.
Be sure to check out some of the great highlights and attractions that the region has to offer with our bus tour and exclusive Open Day deals.
Free parking will be available in a designated parking area located on the corner of James Cook Drive and Mount Stuart Street (view on Google Maps). Follow signed directions on the day. For locations of other parking areas on campus, refer to our interactive campus map.
