Internet

Superfast broadband internet is available to station users free of charge. 

OIRS does not provide any computers. Access is available wirelessly throughout most buildings on the station and also via cable in the lecture theatre, foyer and dry laboratory.

Phone

There is an internal phone system which allows incoming calls and internal calls to be directed to each of the accommodation areas and the lecture theatre. A message bank service is available on most phones. Outgoing calls can be made from any of these phones using calling cards available from the office. Alternatively mobile reception for most services (excluding Vodaphone) is generally available at the beach.

Fax

Faxes can be sent and received from the station office on +61 7 4777 7116. Charges apply for sending of faxes with the exception of food order faxes.

Mail

There is no regular postal service, but mail can be sent via the Halifax Post Office by arrangement. Stamps are available for sale at the station office. Incoming mail should be addressed c/- OIRS, PO Box 4, Halifax, QLD 4850, Australia.

Couriered parcels can be sent by pre-arrangement with OIRS staff, c/- Taylors Beach Caravan Park, 91 John Dory Street, Taylors Beach.
