Knowledge on genome structure of the black tiger prawn can provide information essential to the downstream development of advanced genomic breeding programs, along with providing the capacity to better understand gene function through detailed comparative genomic studies. The Genome Sequence workpackage will aim to produce a comprehensive draft genome and tissue-specific transcriptome of the black tiger prawn. It will achieve this aim by utilising several Next Generation Sequencing platforms (e.g. Illumina, PacBio) and the sequencing of an inbred black tiger prawn individual. Integration and comparative mapping of the black tiger genome with that of other crustaceans will also be implemented to further refine the draft genome.
