JCU Student Success Support Payments

The JCU Student Success Support Package could be the answer if money problems stand between you and a higher education at James Cook University (JCU). Your financial circumstances are taken into consideration when awarding these funds and grants.

The Student Success Support payments consists of three payments as below, you only need to submit one application which will be assessed for all awards you may be eligible for.

Before you start your application, if you do not hold an International Student Visa, please complete the Centrelink payment finder as you may find you are eligible for government assistance.

If all the below statements describe you and your current situation, you are eligible to apply:

  • I am residing and studying in Australia.
  • I am currently and will continue to be enrolled in at least two subjects for Teaching Period 1 2020.
  • I am in need of financial support as a result of the COVID-19 situation.
  • I do not currently receive any financial support from the Australian Government including, but not limited to, Centrelink payments, JobKeeper and JobSeeker.
  • I attended face-to-face teaching before the requirement of online learning.
  • I am not receiving a scholarship or stipend that is covering my ongoing living expenses.
  • I can show evidence of changes to my financial position, such as two months of bank statements, as confirmation of my income and expenses.
  • I have an Australian bank account.

Please note, if you are enrolled in only one subject and are experiencing hardship you may be considered for limited support where extenuating circumstances can be demonstrated.

Step one: Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria listed above.

Step two: Complete the online application form (applications open Monday 20 April 2020).

If you have any difficulty or need further assistance then please contact the Scholarships Office.

After assessment of your application, you will receive an email to your student email account detailing if you have been successful in being awarded a payment.

If you have been awarded a payment, the email will provide a link to provide your Australian bank account to our accounts team for payment.

For Fast Track Student Success and Technology Bursaries, we will be making payments as soon as possible however this could take up to 5 University Working Days.

For Extraordinary Student Support payments, these applications may take longer to assess and students will be emailed accordingly.
