Warm Welcome Relocation Grant

The Warm Welcome Relocation Grant of AU$5,000 is available for students who are new to James Cook University.

Eligibility

Eligible international students

  • Commencing international students who will commence their study in any of the 2022 intakes.
  • International students who commenced online courses* offshore or interstate in 2020 or 2021 because they were not able to travel to Queensland due to border restrictions.
  • *Courses must be CRICOS registered

      Eligible international students

    • Commencing international students who will commence their study in any of the 2022 intakes.

      Ineligible students:

      • Continuing international students
      • International students transferring between JCU courses
      • International HDR students
      • Vice Chancellor’s International Student Scholarship awardees
      • Students studying in external mode
      • Students who are outside Australia
      • Domestic students.
      • International students transferring from JCU Brisbane or JCU Singapore
      • International students transferring from a joint program
      • International students who completed a degree in 2021 at JCU Townsville or Cairns campus
      • Study Abroad and Exchange students
      • International students who are sponsored by government or corporations

    The Warm Welcome Relocation Grant of AU$5,000 is available for students who are new to James Cook University.

    There is no application required. The Relocation Grant payment will be made to eligible students following the JCU International Orientation for the study period in which they commence.  Attendance at the JCU International Orientation is a requirement of the Relocation Grant. Students who are unable to attend the JCU International Orientation must attend a one-on-one orientation appointment with International Student Support, and payment will be made thereafter.

    • If a student withdraws prior to census date, $5,000 will be withheld from the commencement deposit
    • Available for 2022 only
    • Payment of the grant remains at the discretion of the University.
