Referencing

Referencing is an essential part of academic writing. Its purpose is to acknowledge the original source of ideas and work that is not the author's own.

The manner in which you are required to write the in-text citation and the reference list is determined by the Reference Style.

Referencing LibGuides

We must reference our work to indicate where we sourced our information and/or ideas from, and to avoid plagiarising another's work so that reader can verify our sources.

The JCU Library offers a comprehensive range of referencing and style guides, and EndNote support to help you with your university assignments. See http://libguides.jcu.edu.au/referencing to explore what's on offer!

Liaison Librarians

JCU's Liaison Librarians will work with you to provide assistance in developing your assignment research skills. They provide assistance with finding quality academic sources for assignments, and provide referencing advice.

Get in touch with your discipline librarian or see staff at the InfoHelp Desk at your campus library.
