This form is to appeal an Academic Progression outcome and applies to all students admitted to undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and Pathways Courses and programs offered by James Cook University (JCU) in Australia, Singapore and via JCU Online.

This form is applicable to decisions made under the Academic Progression Policy and its associated procedures, including the Unsatisfactory Academic Performance Procedure and the Maximum Time to Complete Procedure.

Please read the Student Appeals Policy, Appeal of Academic Progression Outcomes Procedure, JCU's Information Collection Notice and check you have everything you need to complete this form before you commence. Complete as much information as possible and provide relevant supporting documentation in order to ensure a smooth assessment of your appeal.

The University strongly encourages you to seek Academic Advocacy from the Townsville and Cairns JCUSA offices from an independent Student Advocate in the preparation and duration of your appeal, especially if you need assistance in understanding the form.

Are you submitting this appeal within 20 University working days of that decision? * University working days exclude Saturday, Sunday, public holidays or any official University closures.

What legitimate ground/s for appeal are you basing your appeal on? * Refer to the Appeal of Academic Progression Outcomes Procedure.

Provide a statement below briefly and concisely explaining why the ground applies in this case – why the process was procedurally unfair, how/why the conditions of the decision/s are inappropriate and/or why the new evidence is relevant and was not available at the time of the original decision and attach evidence to support your claim. Point to relevant information by providing the document title, page number, paragraph, etc. Emails should be kept in original format and referred as separate attachments.
