JCU Clean Energy Ideas Workshop

The Estate Directorate will be holding a Clean Energy Ideas Workshop for the Cairns and Townsville campuses with the aim of bringing together ideas for how JCU can reduce its carbon emissions and improve its energy efficiency, while enhancing learning, teaching and research across the JCU Estate.

JCU has an opportunity to access loan funding to fast-track viable projects undertaken on the JCU Estate. These projects need to provide a carbon reduction or clean energy benefit and a suitable payback or return on investment.

We want to hear from you about any project ideas or collaborations you may wish to undertake with the JCU Estate Directorate to reduce our carbon footprint and improve energy efficiency, and make JCU a leader in carbon reduction and energy efficiency.

Ideas may include, but are not limited to:

  • Building efficiency and conservation programs
  • Renewable energy projects
  • Battery installations
  • Water efficiency (provided there is a carbon reduction outcome)
  • Innovative solutions for carbon reduction or energy efficiency
  • Waste management
  • Fleet management
  • Energy efficient equipment
  • Insulation and roof painting

For examples of projects that may be viable, see how the University of Melbourne has worked with the Clean Energy Finance Corporation to leverage $9.1 million in loan funding here.

If you are interested in working with us on this exciting project, we will be holding an Ideas Workshop at the Townsville and Cairns campuses on the following dates:

Townsville - Tuesday 11th July, 9am - 11am, Education Central, Room 105

Cairns - Wednesday 12th July, 10am - 12pm, The Cairns Institute, Room 003
