WHS Risk Management Fundamentals

To assist all staff and students to identify hazards in the workplace and assess risks to implement safety controls for a safe and healthy environment in the workplace.

Audience:  All staff and students – required by all staff and Post Graduate Students to complete within 3 months of commencement at JCU

Learning Outcomes

  • Be aware of the legal requirements governing risk assessments
  • Understand how risk assessments align with JCU Health Safety Management System
  • Identify and apply the key stages of a risk management process
  • Be able to carry out a risk assessment in the workplace

  • Identifying and analysing workplace hazards
  • Assessing risk associated with those hazards
  • Selecting appropriate actions and controls to reduce risk
  • Reviewing of control measures
