Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants would be expected to:

  • Be aware of the legal   requirements governing risk assessments
  • State how risk   assessments fits in with JCU HSMS
  • Identify and apply the   key stages of a risk assessment
  • Be able to carry out a   risk assessment in the workplace


  • JCU Work Health and   Safety Risk Management
  • Communication and   consultation
  • Identifying and analysing   workplace hazards
  • Assessing risk   associated with those hazards
  • Selecting appropriate   actions and controls to reduce risk
  • Reviewing of control   measures
