To assist all staff and students to identify hazards in the workplace and assess risks to implement safety controls for a safe and healthy environment in the workplace.

All staff and students – required by all staff to complete within 3 months of commencement at JCU

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants would be expected to:

• Be aware of the legal   requirements governing risk assessments
• State how risk   assessments fits in with JCU HSMS
• Identify and apply the   key stages of a risk assessment
• Be able to carry out a   risk assessment in the workplace

Content

• JCU Work Health and   Safety Risk Management
• Communication and   consultation
• Identifying and analysing   workplace hazards
• Assessing risk   associated with those hazards
• Selecting appropriate   actions and controls to reduce risk
• Reviewing of control   measures
